Over 80% of the students at Manaugh receive free or reduced priced lunch.
TabLab operates in Manaugh Elementary School in Cortez, Colorado, in the Four Corners area of the state. More than 80 percent of the students at this school received free and reduced lunch. Approximately half are from Ute, Navajo or other American Indian groups. The school serves many students with high needs. Principal Donetta Rankin began her relationship with Manaugh as a single mom, who sent her child to the school long before she received her principal’s license. Now her daughter is a 30-year-old working professional and Donetta has been principal at the school for 12 years. “It’s the hardest job you’ll ever love,” Donetta says. “I spend my weekends here as well.” While TabLab is proud to help with improving education in rural areas, it’s truly the educators and students who make the change.
